Current Studies

We often have ongoing studies for most adolescents and adults to participate both in person and online! Feel free to reach out if you are interested in any of the following studies:

Social Relationships & Suicide

The Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University is enrolling individuals to participate in a study being done on social relationships and suicide behavior. To participate in this study you must be between the ages of 15-35 and have no history of psychiatric disorders. This study includes a: 1)  3-4 hour behavioral session that includes questionnaires and interviews with a researcher. ($10/hour) 2) complete brief surveys on your phone when prompted (6 times a day) by an app on your phone for one week (up to $90), 3) complete a 1-month and a 3-month follow-up interview ($10/hour). Autism Perspectives (PLEASD)

Are you an autistic individual interested in sharing your perspective and participating in a research study?

The Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University is enrolling 

individuals ages 13-20 in a study interested in the emotions and experiences of autistic individuals and learning more about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.  

 

This study includes a: 

1) 2-3 hour interview session that includes questionnaires and interviews with a researcher. 

($20 prepaid Amazon or Target gift card for the session) 

2) An optional 1-hour session that includes doing some simple tasks ($20 prepaid Amazon or Target gift card for the session).

Stigma, Help-Seeking, and Resistance Experiences in Serious Mental Illness (SHARE)

Do you have a mental illness that has significantly impacted your life? 

You are invited to participate in a research study examining how different types of stigma impact mental health treatment help-seeking. This online survey can be completed from anywhere in the United States. You will first meet with a researcher on Zoom to confirm eligibility, then you will receive 2 online surveys to complete. Participation will require 1 – 1.5 hours of your time in total and you may earn $25 in compensation.

To be eligible, you must be: 

  • Between the ages of 18 and 35 

  • Diagnosed with any of the following: 

  • Schizophrenia or psychotic spectrum disorder 

  • Bipolar 1 disorder 

  • Mood disorder with psychotic features (e.g., major depression with psychotic features, bipolar disorder with psychotic features) 

  • Borderline Personality Disorder 

  • OR have been hospitalized within the past year for any mental health condition 

 

You must also be located in the United States and able to read/communicate in English.

Have you been diagnosed with schizophrenia?

The Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University is enrolling individuals ages 18-50 in a virtual study exploring how social behaviors relate to our social relationships. 

​

This study includes two parts:  

Session 1 is a 2-4 hour session that includes questionnaires and clinical interviews with a researcher. This session pays $10/hour (Amazon gift cards). 

 

Session 2 is a 1-hour session that includes an interactive task with another person and additional questionnaires. This session pays a flat fee of $25.00 (Amazon gift card). 

Both sessions will occur online over video call.

Postpartum Study

Have you experienced a pregnancy in the last 10 years?

​

The Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University is conducting a

research study to understand what factors contribute to mental health outcomes during the

postpartum period following a pregnancy.

​

You are eligible to participate if:

  • You are 18+

  • Live in the United States and are fluent in English

  • Have access to the internet and can join a zoom meeting

  • Have experienced a pregnancy in the last 10 years

​

The study will last approximately 1.5 – 2 hours in length. You will complete a brief interview

about your mental health following the pregnancy, answer several self-report questionnaires, and

complete a task about social and emotional information. You will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for your participation. Please email clinicalneurolab@case.edu if interested!
